GEO diagnostic and measurement methodology

A reviewable method matters more than a decorative master score. We preserve market, surface, date, execution method, account state, sample and denominator so baseline and retest remain comparable.

Method reviewed:

01

Freeze the research scope

Confirm the brand, country or region, language, business profile, target surfaces, account state and execution method. Every market must name its target country or region.

02

Build the market question panel

Questions cover discovery, comparison, recommendation, fact checking and action paths in local buyer language. The panel is frozen before baseline measurement.

03

Separate website readiness

SEO foundations cover access, crawling, indexing, canonicals, regional configuration and page structure. GEO readiness covers entity facts, answer blocks, evidence and machine-readable structure. Neither is platform visibility.

04

Run and review platform samples

Each run retains the date, surface boundary, question, response, citations and validity review. Mentions, valid citations, recommendations, factual accuracy and action validity use distinct definitions and denominators.

05

Retest the same panel

After implementation, rerun the same panel on agreed dates and report coverage, samples, platform limitations and directional change. Surface changes are flagged to prevent invalid comparisons.

PRIMARY RESEARCH CONTEXT

GEO remains a fast-moving measurement field.

The 2023 GEO research framed the objective as improving content visibility in generative-engine responses and found that methods varied by domain. WantAI GEO therefore uses market- and surface-specific measurement, without turning research outcomes into client performance promises.
